NEW Spring Flower Pendants

Spring is here! Well it was here, but now it's freezing again:( Geesh. I'm getting over it by hunkering down in the studio and dreaming up spring with some new designs.

I've been working with Millefori a lot lately, they are tiny glass flowers made to be fused into sheet glass or beads. This is what they look like before I fire them into pendants:

After cutting, layering, firing and firing again, they look like this:

I do hope that spring appears outside soon. xxoo Penny

I can see the finnish line....

I have LOTS of new work to list and share here, but first, I wanted to stop in this weeked and share some breaking news: I am finally moving into my NEW masterbedroom addition! Yay!

It has been a long year of ups and downs, but I can finally rest my head in a comfy spot reserved just for hubby and I on our private third floor master bedroom. I won't share all just yet, after all, I've only just moved up here and there are tons of details to finnish, but here's a sneak peek:

This long bright hallway will soon feature a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, a feature I had in mind from the beginning of the design process and had to fight for more than a few times during construction.

The bed and the wall behind it still need some work, but I have to say it's sooooooo great to have a bed again after three months of sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

This shadow box with gold framing once belonged to my grandmother, then my mother, so I really want to make it a focal point in the room. For now, it sits atop my dresser and holds some of my jewellery and nail polish.

I haven't had a full length mirror in th house since we purchased it (7 years ago, eep) so I figured this corner of the room was the perfect locale (and I just love how it reflects the light here).

This ledge (which sits just to the right of the bed) was one of many "decisions on the fly" during this process. I had to make it work as we had to cover up some plumbing pipes for our NEW master bathroom. Not what I had in mind, but now it's a great art ledge and spot for my brid cage/jewellery stand.

so thrilled to finally have a room of our own!

I'll be back soon to share some more pics, including the masterbath and office, oh and some great new work too:)

I hope that you are somewhere warm, bright and cosy this weekend. xxoo Penny.

Process...

This weekend I was able to steal some time in the studio which felt like an incredibly good break from the chaos that has become my life in renovationg purgatory.

I snapped a few photos, just to document and remember how lucky I am to have the chance to work with my hands when my mind is bursting with to-do lists, shopping trips, decisions, decisions, decisions.....

I hope to update in a few days when these screen printed, then hand painted pendants and rings will be in the shop (fingers crossed that all goes well in the kiln).

I hope that you were somewhere wonderful doing what you love this weekend too. Penny xxoo.

New Bohemian In The Shop Today

I've been so busy listing new things in the shop, I haven't have the chance to stop by and say hi. The new year is turning out to be a whirlwind at our house with our house renovations coming to an end (soon, fingers crossed!).

In the meantime, while I anxiously await my new bedroom (yay!) I have been a busy bee in the studio trying to keep my mind off the progress two floors above. Here are just a few one of a kind bohemian style necklaces that I listed in the past week:

I do hope that you'll stop by and take a peek.

New Winter Fields Necklaces

As promised, I'm back to share a quick photo of a new series of necklaces that have been listed in the shop today (yay!)

The Winter Fields series was inspired by long winter walks and whispy, moody landscapes that get lit up brightly by the reflection of sunlight on snow.

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.” ― Lewis Carroll

Good Night.

It's a cold a blustery night out tonight, the kind that is making me want to do nothing but hide under my cozy blanket in front of the fire.

This rainy dark night also reminded me that I wanted to stop in to show off some NEW Night lights that I made for a show this weekend. They were such a big hit that I thought about listing them in the shop as well. I have some photos to take and listings to write, but watch for them to be available for sale in the next few days.

,

I hope your somewhere warm and snuggly too.

New Studio Almost There....

Truth be told, I have been in my NEW STUDIO for a few weeks now, but have been sooooo busy that I haven't had time to photograph it or share it with you here yet. Being busy is a problem I like have so no complaints here.

If your're interested in what it used to look like, you can see the before pics here.I promise to have some more interesting pics soon, but for the time being, here's a sneak peek:

I still have yet to add in many of the decorating details that will make it feel a bit more "homey" but am already loving the look and feel of my new space.

Studio Redo: Still Going

I'm still plugging away on my tiny studio redo, promise!

Life is still happening at a frantic pace around here with my two busy boys and our massive house reno which will seemingly NEVER end, but things are progressing quite well in my little studio and I hope to have in finished and photographed by the end of the weekend (perhaps, I am posting in hopes that it might manifest some action:).

In the meantime, here are a few great and organized spaces that I found via Pinterest:
I love how the colours work together to create a happy, bright and inspiring space here.

I love the eccletic feel of this office that still maintains a lot of storage:
This photo was found here.

I've been searching everywhere for some great storage ideas for all my craft supplies which although may not always be part of my creative work, need to be part of my tiny space (mostly because I don't have room anywhere else):

I love these ideas:
The source for the above photos can be found here.

I also love this idea:
It's making me want to run out and get even more ribbon.

I hope to be back after the weekend with full pics (yay!) until then, I hope you have a wonderful weekend with those you choose to send it with.

Studio Re-do: Before Pictures

This week, I'm redoing my little studio. When I say little, I really mean teeny tiny.

You see, I used to have a much larger workspace on the third floor of my house, but there have been many life changes around here in the last few years, one major one being my Mother moving in with my family of four, now making us a family of five in 1900 square feet of already squishy quarters.

When I moved into the sunroom off my kitchen (formally, a little mudroom) It looked something like this:

And This:
....and after my husband was tired of my ranting he built me this for my tools:

It wasn't my ideal space, but I grew to like this sunny little spot off of my kitchen, even though I have to pass the cookie jar 800 times a day as I walk in and out of it (a very bad geographical hazzard).

But soon enough, life happened again, we are renovation our house to make a fully contained apartment for my mother and giving my little boys some more room as they grow to be not-so-little. Now, I have this lovely washer and dryer in my tiny space to keep me company:
I know, right!?!

So, after I had my pity party during which I said I would never work again, my creative career was over, and, at one point, I would sell this *&^% house and get one that works, I decided a complete redo was in order.

Given that it's such a small space, investing in some shelving and work space that work, some paint, and some fabric and new lighting, shouldn't be all THAT expensive. So, guess what I'll be doing this week? Painting and organizing, and shopping and perhaps, maybe even sewing (yikes!).

Here's just a few more BEFORE PHOTOS:
I hope to be back to share a FINNISHED once and for all space soon!
